Hello friends!! October is finally here!! The leaves are changing colour and the sun still feels warm on my face. I really do love this month! It’s that in between time when the trees are still full of leaves but no longer totally green. Flowers are still in bloom and trying to hang on just a little while longer. We still have those beautiful sunny days where all you need to wear outside is a light sweater. You can still remember those hot summer days and winter is still at that far away place somewhere in the future. Here are five things I love about October:
1. Photographing The Colourful Changing Landscapes!!
There isn’t really a big window of opportunity for getting those amazingly colourful autumn colours here. Between work and the weather I don’t usually get many photos. But I enjoy what I can get and enjoy looking at photos other people capture. Every year I promise myself I will get more….maybe this year. (The photo below was taken last October)
2. “Real” Sweater Weather!!
I love curling up in my comfy chair with a hot cup of coffee and some interesting reading material. Wearing a cozy sweater of course! Did I mention I love sweaters! 🙂
3. It Signals A Time For Reflection!!
October signals for me that I am close to getting a year older. It’s my New Years Day so to speak. I reflect on what I have (or haven’t) accomplished since last October. And I look forward to another year and what I want for my future self.
4. It’s Autumn!!!
Well; it’s Autumn!! There is a change in the way the air feels. A signaling of colder weather ahead. It starts with a subtle change in the colour of the leaves on the trees. Everything isn’t just different shades of green anymore. Before the leaves are blown away, there are beautiful reds and yellows and oranges of varying intensities.
5. It’s My Birthday Month!!
I know you probably think I’m crazy, but I’m one of those people who look forward to their birthday. It’s not that I look forward to getting older, because the closer I creep towards 50, the less grownup I feel. I have always felt thankful for each birthday, to be able to celebrate, usually quietly with friends and family. Not everyone has that luxury. There are two other people who would celebrate birthdays this month if they were still with us. My cousin, who passed away four years ago, would have been 49 tomorrow. She, just three years older than me. And my mother, who passed away almost fifteen years ago, would have celebrated her 65th this month. Birthdays are very special…
So, friend, how about you? Do you love October? Or is there another time of year that makes you happy? Feel free to share in the comments section below. If you really enjoyed this post, you can share with friends on Facebook, Twitter or others. Again, as always, thanks for taking a look at the view from where I am…
You should think about writing books!! You have a talent.. yet another thing to be thankful for!!
Well gee thanks!! I’ve always wanted to write a book. Not sure what to write about though. LOL
