Well, we’re into the full swing of summer here now. The last few days have been beautiful, although I couldn’t enjoy it much because I was working. I have been feeling more stuck, creatively, lately and having trouble finding some inspiration. Stuck partly because I am in the same place day after day and feeling like there is nothing new to discover. Until last week when I decided to try out a new lens. I’m selling my Nikon 40mm macro lens that I hardly use and bought the nifty fifty! The Nikon 50mm f/1.8G FX lens, to be more specific. You wouldn’t think that 10mm would make a difference, but it changes your perspective just enough. It acts as a great portrait lens on my Nikon D5300 because it is a DX camera and the 50mm lens acts approximately as a 75mm lens. Am I boring you yet, or have I lost you completely? LOL If you are curious to know more, just comment below or send me an email. So, how about I just show you some photos!
I went outside at around 8:30pm earlier this week to get a few quick shots. I didn’t want to fool around with my camera settings a lot because I would soon be losing much of the light very quickly. I just put my camera on Aperture mode and at an F-stop of 2.8 to blur the background (or foreground) in my photos so that I was putting focus on just one part of the photo. Walking just a short distance, I was able to find subjects for my photos. Many were things I have taken before. But no two days are the same of course. There is always some subtle difference. The grass has grown, the sun is at a different angle, different boats are at the wharf. And of course using a different lens on my camera, or just using my cell phone camera changes the final result. Next time I may show you the views you can get from my Nikon 10-20mm lens.
What do you do to get unstuck in your creative lives? I wrote this blog post here almost a year ago about how I find inspiration to get unstuck.
So that’s it for me this time. I’m hoping over the summer to get some day trips in to places near where I live (within a couple of hours or so) and will certainly share those with you. This evening me and my little family may take a walk on a nearby trail so that will be another post. Also, you need to see the hotel my husband and I stayed in on our mini vacation back in early May. What would you like to see next? Let me know by commenting below or sending me an email. Until then, you can check out some day trips I had last summer by going back through my blog posts or by clicking here.
P.S. ((I may actually start taking more people photos, so let me know if you live near me and are interested!!)) For now here is a photo of the view from where I am. 🙂
